Top Computer Science Schools in the US

To find the top computer science schools in the US, you could do well by starting to look in the state of California. The state is home to at least five top computer science colleges such as the University of California in Irvine, where it is a driving force for cutting edge research, building leadership skills, as well as innovating character development. The university was established in 1965 and boasts around 29,000 students including freshmen, undergraduates and graduates. It also has almost 11,000 staff members, many of which are experienced in computer sciences.

The University of California in Santa Barbara is ranked second in the world for research science impact. It helps to shape the future in engineering, computing science and academics. It is also very much involved with marine sciences, with its close proximity to the Pacific coastline. Just North of there, the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo is another college where scientific research is undertaken by undergraduates and graduates looking to improve the way business and establishments run. Their strongest fields include engineering, marine biology, computing, and technological sciences.

Another top computer science school in the US is the University of California in Berkeley. This school was established in 1868 and concentrates on the sciences of agriculture, mining and mechanics. There are nearly 400 different science programs that can be taken at the Berkeley school, many of which focus on computer sciences for undergraduates and graduates.

Another California-based school is the institute in San Diego, but there are top computer science schools that can be found outside of California as well. Universities such as the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), New York University (NYU) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to name but a few* that exist across America.

Having a computer science degree means the potential is there to enjoy a very fulfilling career. There are a number of roles that a graduate can apply for, depending on which specific area of computing science they have decided to study. Given the diversity inherent in Computer Sciences, getting your degree could open a wide variety of doors for you in today’s job market.
